Whether you call it a deli, a bodega, or even a grocery store, corner stores in general are absolute pillars of the five boroughs. For they are our namesake, we would be remiss to not highlight some of these storefronts from around Brooklyn.

Farmer in the Deli (357 Myrtle Ave, Brooklyn, NY 11205)

With this deli, you come for the clever name and you stay for the stacked sandwiches. Their prices are reasonable for cold cut sandwiches but the amount of meat and cheese that goes through the slicer and on to your choice of roll or hero is definitely a bang for your buck. Its within walking distance of schools in the area like St. Joseph’s College—Brooklyn and the Pratt Institute.

New York Deli Grocery (82 Havemeyer St., Brooklyn, NY, 11211)

This storefront in the Williamsburg area of Brooklyn does serve sandwiches and snacks alike, but their beer selection is something to be noted as superior to most other corner stores. They house all different types of beers including IPAs, imports from more than 4 countries, and of course the standard domestic beers. Another bright spot is the location, which is right across the street from the Knitting Factory Williamsburg location.

This one-stop shop seems to have everything and the kitchen sink available, with grill and fried food items available all the way until closing. Another deli with a great location, sitting on the corner of Myrtle and North Portland Avenue and right across the street from Fort Greene Park.

Mauers Super Deli (3103 Quentin Rd., Brooklyn, NY, 11234)

Heading further south in Brooklyn, we see Mauers with some of the best quality sandwiches for breakfast and lunch. In the Marine Park area, this deli is just a few blocks away from the actual Marine Park area with playgrounds and sports facilities.
